Any workouts?
Can anybody provide any boxing related workouts? I think I'm getting a little bored with my current routine. Looking for something new! Any input is highly appreciated!

RE: Any workouts?
I am not a boxer myself, however I would advise you to use Google to find some good workout routines. Google always proves useful to me.
Alternatively you could go to your local GYM and ask someone there!
Good luck!

RE: Any workouts?
I am not sure what you do now but I recommend working out with light dumbbells and shadow box with them. This builds your arm muscles and helps with your form. You need to also base your workout on the size you are. If you are a heavyweight, you focus will be more on the strength of your punches so you need to focus more on your arm strength. If you are a light weight, you need to combine your arm strength with speed and good leg muscles. The key is to not get into a rut and to rotate your routine every 4 weeks to keep it fresh and to confuse the muscles so they have to work to keep up.

I do a rope skipping warmup, 6 rounds on the speedbag, 5 rounds on the heavy bag, 4 rounds speedbag trapping and 3 rounds on the double end bag then I alternate days upper body and lower body strength training

RE: Any workouts?
Can anybody direct me to DVD's tp purchase giving me basic workouts in my garage. I just purchased a 80lb bag and I want to know what I need to do to increase my fighting abilities with this bag. I am just starting out so I am probebly needing only the basic moves. I walk fast 6 1/2 miles 5 days a week and go to the gym 3 of those days lifting weights. Something to increase my confidence and speed, cardio and burn fat and move to using the speed bag. I also want to use the speed bag and would like to know if there are any DVD's on this as well. Teaching me how to for the speed bad and 80lb bag. I'm just starting so any advise or pointers will be greatly appreciated. Maybe some pointers on overall street boxing / fighting. We moved to a area where there are some not so nice folks. Should I work out on the 80lb bag for twelve rounds or for a hour, or two hours? Specifically tecniqe and endurance. Thanks, dogtag

RE: Any workouts?
My advice would be to punch the heavybag for 15 rounds a day, with no gloves, to build up punching endurance and tough hands. Muscles dont make you a really good puncher, tough hands and experience with those hands do. Also I would recommend skipping rope for 10 rounds and running 1-5 miles every day. I do not know any workouts to work the muscles of the back, but I think that they would help you greatly in upcoming fights. If your back moves faster than most peoples hands do, then people will have a hard time hitting you. Also I think that you should spar alot. I recommend that you use no helmet to toughen you up. The speed bag and the shadow boxing with weights will benefit your speed, and doing alot of ab excersizes benefits your body toughness. I also recommend that you work the butterfly press to strengthen your chest. Your chest muscle also helps you punch. This should be a boxing workout for all weight classes. If it is making you lose to much weight or gain too much weight, I would recommend that you stick with it and be happy with your natural weight class.
