There have been numerous boxers who have changed their names to fight. Here are a few:

William Guiglermo Papaleo changed his name to Willie Pep
Anthony Zeski changed his name to Tony Zale
Rocco Marchegiano became Rocky Marciano

The one i Like best is that of Henry Armstrong.....who started out in Boxing as 'Melody Jackson'.

I dont know if this qualify - he changed his name not to fight but for other reasons.

And oh! If memory serves me right, I've read (years ago) that Marvelous Marvin Hagler went through all legal procedures to legally incorporate the Marvelous in his name? (I could be wrong, though).
