Holyfield v. Savarese

My prediction:

Nobody is going to pay to see this crap. I'd rather see Barbara Bush and Queen Elizabeth go at it with Gucci handbags. Yuck.

RE: Holyfield v. Savarese

I take it you are referring to the "a-has-been" versus "a-nobody" match-up? I agree. Unfortunately, that is the sad state of affairs in the present Heavyweight division. With a weak division, the older fighters of repute might see it as an opportunity to take a final pop at the championship. There have been whispers that Lennox Lewis (even Foreman!) might comeback. :o

I will very surpised if Lennox even thinks about lacing up another pair of gloves now that he has landed a steady job on the HBO commentating team....

I hope that Lewis does not return to the ring. I really don't want to see him, or any other boxer get hurt. Older boxers returning to the ring run such a risk of serious injury, I'm surprised the boxing commissions allow so many of these fights to happen.

Did anybody see this fight. It was similar to George Foreman's last fight an old man chasing a paycheck in a young man's sport. I hope this is it for Lewis, it was painful to watch the since they were both past their prime.

RE: Holyfield v. Savarese

There were moments, very brief moments, when Holyfield looked to resemble his former days. But you are right, it was not a good fight. Sadly, with such a weak Heavyweight division currently, it gives greater incentive for the "has-beens" and "ageing nearlys" to pull on the gloves again.
