Some Input

Hey, what's up?
I am doing a little research on Boxing and Ocular Injuries (I am an optometry student) and I am looking for some input from the boxing community. If you guys could touch base on a few questions from personal experience I would really appreciate it.
What does it take to get a boxing license; are there specific vision requirements?
Are contact lenses allowed to be worn during a match?
What type of injuries to the eye have been a result from boxing (black eye, fracture, retinal detachment, etc.)?
How many/how often do you get an ocular injury, if at all?
Besides trying not to get hit, obviously, is there anything specific you guys do to prevent from getting hit in the eyes?
I have heard of thumb-less boxing gloves which are meant to help prevent eye injuries, anyone use these or even heard of them? comments.

Any thing else you might want to throw my way would also be very helpful.

Thanks

RE: Some Input

The only thing I can help with is that thumbless gloves are designed to prevent eye injuries. When reading The For Kings (great read) I recall a conference were one of Roberto Duran's opponents manager requests thumbless gloves, due to how 'dirty' Duran could be.
