Tyson and Ibragimov

Mke Tyson as a corner man for Ibragimov? Apparently these two have built a relationship. I know this sounds crazy, but I think Tyson could do well working with young fighters. There is plenty of room here for jokes. I know that. But, for all of his flaws, Tyson really does know boxing. He was more than just a knockout artist. Look closely at his early fights. He was always moving forward and never getting hit. Cus used to make him sit in front of the TV and study the classic fights. This might be what Mike needs.

RE: Tyson and Igragimov

I agree Tyson would do well working with young boxers. Not sure he has the temperament to be a full coach, but he would make a great mentor and gym partner for upcoming fighters.

RE: Tyson and Ibragimov

He has been to war before, so getting the fighters to respect him would not be a problem. I don't think he can be a full fledged trainer. But, he could definitely be a confidence boost for an young fighter. My concern would be when one of those BS after fight melees breaks out. Can he control himself in that situation?

RE: Tyson and Ibragimov

Unfortunately Mike Tyson is not allowed to leave the state, which means he will not be in Sultan Ibragimov's corner tonight.
Tyson is a very inspirational person. In my opinion he would be an amazing trainer for those that are built like him and also fight the way he did. Maybe he could also train "boxers" (not saying Tyson was nothing but a slugger, he did box very well), but I guess he would be better for knockout machines.
If I remember corrently, Tyson once said he could not or would not want to be a trainer since he is just not that type of person. I am sure he would have some great pieces of advice to give since he knows boxing history extremely well and is also a very experienced fighter himself.

RE: Tyson and Ibragimov

I'm glad to see someone say that Tyson was a good boxer. Way too many people have forgotten that. I watched his KO of Spinks 20 or more times, in slow motion to. The man had talent. The fight was really short, but Spinks barely laid a hand on Tyson. He was slipping and dodging as well as knocking peoples' noses into their brains.

RE: Tyson and Ibragimov

Tyson's best years were 1985 - 1988. From 1989 on he turned more into a headhunter I think. Although, in 2000 he impressed me A LOT with his variety again - more than a decade after his prime.
In my opinion Mike Tyson is the best fighter of all times.

RE: Tyson and Ibragimov

I'm close behind you. I think Tyson COULD have been the best fighter of all times. But, I am a fan of Ali and Sugar Ray Robinson. As we agree to an extent, Tyson had more skills than people give him credit for. All people see now is the headhunter who suffered from massive shrinkage after tasting his own blood against Douglas. If he has stayed with the people he came up with, people who would have kept him on the right track, he would have eclipsed them all. As he stands now in history, he falls short.

RE: Tyson and Ibragimov

Mike Tyson the best of all time? I am afraid that you are far off my friend. The only way that Tyson could beat Ali is if he sprouted a couple of inches and started eating him to. Mike Tyson is a good boxer, but he lacks two things that seperate him from the great boxers. Mental Stamina, and toughness. Rocky Marciano has everything a boxer needs to be the greatest and would knock Tyson out in the 7th round.

RE: Tyson and Ibragimov

I've been thinking for a while that Tyson would be a great trainer. He's a pure student of the game.
