Ultimate Fighting vs Boxing
How would you compare the two. Are they both a sport? Are they both an art? Are they of equal standing?
I, personally, prefer boxing. Ultimate fighting is interesting, until they start rolling around on the canvas humping each other. At that point, I get kinda nervous watching it. Seems kinda homoerotic to me. Not my taste.
But, as Seinfeld said, "not that there is anything wrong with that."

RE: Ultimate Fighting vs Boxing
I've only seen a handful of bouts and I didn't enjoy them at all. It is definitely more like good old-fashioned all-in bar brawling than boxing. I wonder how long it will be before we see the step ladder and 8-piece dining room suite in the ring a la the WWE

RE: Ultimate Fighting vs Boxing
I like Ultimate Fighting because it includes many forms of martial arts, so that we get to see not only individual fighters go up against each other, but also we get to see various forms of martial arts going up against one another.
What I don't like about Ultimate Fighting is that they promote it as if it was a straight street-fight with no rules and such, when in actuality there are many rules. For example, you can't eye gouge. Ultimate Fighting is more like wrestling than street-fighting.
At least with boxing you know what you're getting.

RE: Ultimate Fighting vs Boxing
I agree, but I don't like UFC or cage fighting at all. I don't see any real strategy required like there is in boxing, although I'm sure UFC fans might disagree.
I also find that kind of fighting boring, while I love boxing. I am worried about the recent surge of fans they have while professional boxing has had its knocks lately. I'm ready for that trend to change.
